For God’s sake, let us sit upon the ground
And tell sad stories of the death of kings;
How some have been deposed; some slain in war,
Some haunted by the ghosts they have deposed;
Some poison’d by their wives: some sleeping kill’d;
All murder’d…

DOLL: Why does the prince love him so, then?
FALSTAFF: Because their legs are both of a bigness, and a’ plays at quoits well, and eats conger and fennel, and drinks off candles’ ends for flap-dragons, and rides the wild-mare with the boys, and jumps upon joined-stools, and swears with a good grace, and wears his boots very smooth, like unto the sign of the leg, and breeds no bate with telling of discreet stories; and such other gambol faculties a’ has, that show a weak mind and an able body, for the which the prince admits him: for the prince himself is such another; the weight of a hair will turn the scales between their avoirdupois.

Translation: He has great legs and sucks dick.

I do, I will.

And nothing can we call our own but death

Richard II Cinematography | The Hollow Crown

Let’s talk of graves, of worms, and epitaphs,
Make dust our paper and with rainy eyes
Write sorrow on the bosom of the earth.
Let’s choose executors and talk of wills
And yet not so, for what can we bequeath
Save our deposed bodies to the ground?

Richard II (2012)

You may my glories and my state depose,

But not my griefs; still I am king of those.

Richard II (2012)

I had forgot myself; am I not king?
Awake, thou coward majesty! thou sleepest.
Is not the king’s name twenty thousand names?
Arm, arm, my name! a puny subject strikes
At thy great glory. Look not to the ground,
Ye favourites of a king: are we not high?

RICHARD II, Act 3, Scene 2

Seriously, someone stop me or I’ll catalogue this entire scene for reaction GIFs.  I love that his initial response to everyone he knew and loved betraying him and then calling him in to his former throne room in order to publicly humiliate him is just kind of “WELP”.
